Every now and then, something happens on the other side of the world that makes us beam with pride here at Vy Bánh Mì. Last week, it was Vietnam’s 3rd Annual Bánh Mì Festival — a 4-day celebration of everything that makes this iconic sandwich so irresistible.

Held in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, the festival drew crowds from early morning. Locals came with family. Tourists stumbled upon it while exploring. And all were met with one thing: the endless, flavorful world of bánh mì.
From classic meat-filled loaves to new creations like bánh mì with seafood, bánh mì donuts, and even bánh mì made with dragon fruit flour, the diversity on display was a reminder that this humble sandwich has no limits. There was even a model of the famous Ben Thanh Market made entirely out of bread.
What made this year extra special?
✔️ Free bánh mì giveaways at certain hours
✔️ Live demonstrations of bánh mì-making
✔️ A renewed focus on food safety and tradition
✔️ And a sense of pride shared by all who attended
At Vy Bánh Mì, we always say bánh mì isn’t just a sandwich — it’s a symbol. Of culture. Of resilience. Of flavor that brings people together, one crispy bite at a time.
We’re inspired. We’re hungry. And we’re dreaming of bringing a little bit of that festival spirit to Maine.
Would you go to a bánh mì festival if it happened in the U.S.?
